Now that you have gotten your taxes out of the way, what to do now?
Now, you sign up for those fall conferences to make sure that you get on panels or are able to speak or moderate.
Why now?
When you sign up early, you are almost guaranteed a spot on a panel, to be a moderator and may even be asked to give a keynote speech.
What could be better than being a speaker and being able to sell your novel or your works while doing something that you didn't think you could do.
I'm just getting back into the swing of things but my conference schedule includes the Creatures, Crimes and Creativity conference in Columbia, Maryland.
If you need to see what I am talking about; please follow this link. #MDC3Con is the hashtag that paid registrations can use to be entered in a chance to win a fabulous prize. They also have the opportunity for authors to raise money for the literacy program in Howard County Md.
How? By asking authors to put together a 'reader basket" that all attendees can buy tickets for and win some great prizes.
Yes, we do more than just write; we also give back to our community.
Are you signed up yet? Gasp, you're not? Well it's not to late.
Meet me there and I promise we can share a drink, some stories and you will get a look at my newest novel.
This blog is all about my life as a lover of Books, Shoes and Writing. I like to think of myself as a diva; if only in my own mind!

OH HOW FAST THIS YEAR HAS GONE
In less than five weeks we will be ringing in 2019.
What a year it has been! I have broken three bones, had four surgeries, still deal with cancer and have physical therapy every day. I have retired and opened my own travel agency. Nope; not the kind that I have to work for someone else...the kind that I own and operate on my own. I'm actually certified, crazy and as a travel agent.
Imagine that...2018 will be done in less than five weeks.
Have you gotten everything done that you wanted to? Have you finished or started that novel that you had been thinking about? Have you gotten yourself ready for the upcoming year?
Although the year wasn't what I thought it would be, it has sure turned out way better than I thought it would be.
I have traveled more in the past three months than I have in the past three years.
I have met some wonderful people, authors and many have become friends.
I have fallen in love, out of love and something in between love.
I have welcomed a new 'almost' daughter in law and lost a dear friend.
2018 has been one helluva year but I wouldn't change it for anything.
2019 will bring new challenges, new hopes and new dreams and I am ready for it, are you?

SUMMER IS HERE!
Well, technically its not actually here but it's close enough that I am ready.
What do you plan on doing. Well for me, its vacation time! But that doesn't mean I'm resting. That means that I am taking a break from my show on +WLVS Radio and dedicating it to my writing and my new twin grandchildren.
So if you missed my show yesterday, you missed to great +RomanceBooks ForUs +Ayesha Shoulders and +Doris Dancy sat down for some laughs, knowledge and lessons learned.
Check out the show and tell me what you think. I'll be back in the fall because just like the hit show +Empire I have to keep you guessing!
Enjoy

MONTH OF LOVE
So its the first week in February and what is it about this month that you LOVE?
I love that I get to go on vacation for a week but I also love that this is the week that LOVE IS MURDER happens.
If you have been following me for the past three years, than you know that I attend the Love Is Murder conference every year.
I get to meet up with old friends, make some new friends and get to congratulate the LOVEY award winners.
This year, my publisher Intrigue Publishing, has two more nominees up for the LOVEY. Last year CA Verstraete won for best horror/zombie novel and this year +Jeff Markowitz and Annie Alexander are up for best Thriller and Mystery in their categories.
I hope we bring home both!
So even though this is the month of LOVE...I love that I get to go to such a great conference.

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO...
Last night I attended a birthday celebration for a friend. She turned 45 and instead of having your typical birthday party, she threw an "Oscar-like" party.
There were balloons, the #Oscar2014 statue, #paparazzi and even a #RedCarpet. There were 'interviews' with the 'celebrities' and there was a dramatic entrance by the birthday girl herself.
When we all were seated we were entertained by dancers and had a 'not so live band' performance.
Then came the 'nominees' and the awards.
The categories were cleaver. Best Mother Award, Best Catering Award, Best Videographer, Best Photography, Best Community Service and Best Inspirational. There were other categories but after the first two hours they all seemed to run together.
Imagine my surprise when I see the category for Best Author Mentor and my picture appears. I was up against some tough competition and I won the award for Best Author Mentor! I was in shock and I didn't have a prepared speech. I did my best #Academy speech and they didn't have to cue the music because my speech was short and sweet.
Although there was a mix-up with the trophy and I needed to hand my back before receiving the right one after the ceremony.
This was a great night for me and I have displayed my #Oscar award proudly in my library. I can now say, I am an Oscar Award Winning Author.
