Where do I go?

Where do you write? Well I go to my most favorite place ever.

See the window?

I just moved into a new home and inside of my bedroom there is this small closet. Now the closet is suppose to be for clothes but it has a 32x28 sized window in there. My clothes would be visible and I couldn't have that.

So...I did what any clever minded individual would do.

I turned it into my own reading, writing room.
the whole little project cost me $35 dollars. Yes, can you believe it. 20 for the chair and 15 for the bookcase. Oh and do you notice that little green number? Hehehe, that's my stiletto shoe business card holder. See, it IS all about the shoes!

All of those books you see, FREE. I got them at Thrillerfest this year in New York. (see another reason to visit these conferences)and that isn't counting the other bookcase in my sitting room. Score!

So now I go into the closet and sit and create. My laptop plugs right outside of the closet, oh, excuse me; writing room. And the light is perfect. I can sit in there for hours, and I have. #dontjudgeme.

When and if I decide to come out of the closet, it's because I want something to drink. Now to figure out how to add my single cup coffee maker.

I think I got it!

Oh the joys of being an author! So tell me, where do you write?

  1. Just shows that one person's claustrophobic tomb is another person's cozy embracing cacoon. Whatever environment makes you feel safe to open your heart and create from your soul is the right place.

I write in a well-lit office surrounded by mementos from those I love. They give me the strength to open MY soul and create.

  2. That space looks very comfortable. I see that you have a very nice view with lots of natural sunlight to aid in the creative process.

  3. Looks good. For me, I write at various Paneras and Starbucks. I need the background noise because, perversely, it helps me focus.

But oh, don't get me started on the "coming out of the closet" jokes. ;)

I love to write at McDonalds too. The smell of the fries. D'oh; I just drooled!

  5. Well I write in a closet too. Only in The UK it's known as a bedroom. I put tall bookcases against the wall at the foot of my single bed and then managed to squeeze a computer desk in there and a comfy chair. If I'm working late at night I don't have far to stagger to lay my head down. Since my wife has cancer it works very well that I don't disturb her and then I pretend to be asleep in the morning while she looks after the pet rats and degus.Works perfectly. x

  6. Jealous just to have a closet getaway for my writing. Looking at the porch and perhaps enclose it for all seasons and make it my writing room. Time to start searching for some bargains :) Thanks for the inspiration, Sandra.

You will be surprised, closing in a space or even part of a space brings you in line with your thoughts and creates that intimacy that you need for yourself to create. I love my little closet because big things happen there!
Just as your blog stated, it's never to late to start something as long as you have passion. Which is my motto: Passion is something you can not live without.
